Equivalents are approximate: the systems use different test specimens (cube or cylinder) and different statistical definitions. For structural design, always use the class your local standard and engineer specify.

Why the same concrete has so many names
Every standard measures the same thing — how much load hardened concrete carries after 28 days — but on different specimens and with different statistics:
- EN 206 (Europe and many export projects): C25/30 means 25 MPa characteristic strength on cylinders and 30 MPa on 150 mm cubes. Both numbers are given because cubes always test higher than cylinders.
- China (GB 50010) and India (IS 456): C30 in China and M30 in India are both the 30 MPa characteristic cube strength — so China C30 ≈ India M30 ≈ EN C25/30.
- Russia and CIS (GOST): class B is the guaranteed cube strength in MPa (B25 ≈ C20/25). The older mark М is the average strength in kgf/cm², which is why the numbers look much bigger: B25 ≈ М350.
- USA (ACI) and Latin America: f’c is the specified cylinder strength — in psi in the US (3,000 psi ≈ 20.7 MPa) and in kg/cm² in most of Latin America (f’c 210 ≈ 20.6 MPa).
The trap: India M20 is not Russia М200
Both use the letter M, but India’s M20 is 20 MPa on cubes, while Russia’s М200 is an average of about 200 kgf/cm² (≈ 20 MPa average, only ≈ 15 MPa guaranteed). India M20 is therefore closer to Russian B20 / М250. When a tender mixes documents from different countries, convert through MPa, never by matching the letters.
How to read the chart
Each row is one EN 206 class. The Russian, Chinese and Indian columns show the highest standard grade that the concrete still meets, so a concrete that satisfies the row’s class also satisfies those grades. f’c and psi are the cylinder strength converted directly (1 MPa = 10.197 kg/cm² = 145 psi). Russian marks follow GOST’s link between class and mark, which assumes a 13.5 % coefficient of variation.
Once you know the grade, the concrete calculator gives the cement, sand and gravel for your volume. On site, a self-loading mixer with electronic weighing is what keeps each batch on that mix design.
About 3,600 psi. C25/30 has a 25 MPa cylinder strength (30 MPa on cubes), and 25 MPa × 145 = 3,626 psi. It corresponds to China C30, India M30 and Russia B30 / М400.
India's M20 is 20 MPa cube strength: about EN C16/20, China C20, Russia B20 / М250 and roughly 2,300 psi. It is not the same as Russian М200, which is only about B15.
3,000 psi is 20.7 MPa cylinder strength, which meets EN C20/25, China C25, India M25 and Russia B25 / М350. In Latin American terms it is f'c 210 kg/cm².
A cube is short and stocky, so friction with the test machine's plates confines it and it fails at a higher load than a tall cylinder of the same concrete. For normal concrete the cylinder value is roughly 80–85 % of the cube value.
